HEDP, or 1-Hydroxyethylidene-1,1-Diphosphonic Acid, is a commonly used organophosphonic acid that functions as a corrosion inhibitor and water treatment agent. Here is an introduction to the chemical and physical properties of HEDP:

Chemical Properties:

  1. Molecular Formula: C2H8O7P2
  2. Molecular Weight: 206.03 g/mol
  3. Appearance: White powder or colorless liquid
  4. Solubility: Soluble in water, insoluble in organic solvents
  5. pH Value: The pH of a 1% aqueous solution is typically around 2.0-2.5

Physical Properties:

  1. Melting Point: 150-152°C
  2. Boiling Point: Decomposes at 280°C
  3. Density: 1.41 g/cm³
  4. Refractive Index: n20D = 1.486
  5. Flash Point: 132°C

HEDP exhibits excellent corrosion inhibition and scale inhibition properties, making it widely used in water treatment, electroplating, oilfield development, and other applications. It effectively inhibits the corrosion of metal materials and the formation of scale, while being environmentally friendly and not polluting water sources.
