The difference between aid agent and flocculant

Posted on July 19, 2023 By admin No Comments on The difference between aid agent and flocculant

Aid agent and flocculant are chemicals that treat solid particles in suspended or turbid liquids. They are widely used in water treatment, wastewater treatment, sewage treatment, and other industrial processes. Although their goals are similar, there are some key differences between condenser and flocculant.

COAGULANT: Aid agent is a chemical added to the water. It is used to gather tiny suspended particles into larger gel -like blocks, that is, condense. By adding charged ions, such as aluminum salt, iron salt, or polymerized aluminum salt, the static exclusion force in the water makes it attractive between the particles, so that it will gather to form a larger mass. These large groups are called condensate. The condenser helps to quickly condense the suspension and promote the subsequent flocculation process.

FLOCCULANT: flocculant is used to further strengthen and improve the particle cohesion effect in the suspended liquid. Unlike the condenser, flocculant is a polymer compound without charge or low charge, such as polymers. The role of flocculant is to further combine the small gel block formed by the coagulant into a large, visible flocculation. The flocculant can form a thick mesh structure in the water to gather and capture the suspended granules and capture it, so that it sinks or increases the speed of floating, which is convenient for the subsequent solid solid separation process.

Therefore, it can be summarized as follows:

The aid agent is mainly used for neutralizing electrostatic exclusion, which promotes the tiny suspended particles to condense into a larger block.
The flocculant is used to strengthen the effect of the aid agent, and further gather the small gel group block to form a larger flocculation.
It is worth noting that coagulants and flocculants usually need to be used at the same time to cooperate with each other to achieve the best solid solid separation effect. In addition, when selecting and using, the proper condens and flocculants should be selected according to the nature, water quality conditions and processing requirements of specific suspension objects, and operating in accordance with product description and processing process requirements.
