In the rigorous field of industrial water treatment, controlling microbial growth is essential to maintain system efficiency and prevent biofouling. While oxidizing biocides like chlorine are widely used, they can be corrosive and react with system components. Recognizing this challenge, Shandong Kerui Chemicals has developed a range of non-oxidizing, film-forming biocides, including Isothiazolinones, which provide potent and persistent microbial control without the side effects of harsh oxidizers.

Isothiazolinones (CMIT/MIT) are a class of non-oxidizing biocides that function by penetrating the cell membranes of microorganisms and disrupting their metabolic processes . They are characterized by their rapid action and excellent efficacy against bacteria, fungi, and algae across a broad pH range . Their non-oxidizing nature means they do not contribute to corrosion of metal equipment, a significant advantage over chlorine-based treatments.

Kerui offers a specialized Copper-Free Isothiazolinone variant, which is crucial for systems sensitive to metal ions . Traditional isothiazolinone formulations often use copper salts as stabilizers, but in Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems and certain industrial processes, even trace amounts of copper can be detrimental. Kerui’s copper-free version eliminates this risk, making it an ideal, membrane-compatible biocide for RO systems, where it can be applied for shock dosing or as a continuous treatment .

The product is supplied as a stable, clear liquid and is easily dosed . Beyond water treatment, these Isothiazolinones find use as preservatives in paints, coatings, and polymer emulsions, preventing spoilage and extending product shelf life . By providing advanced, non-corrosive biocidal solutions, Kerui Chemical helps its customers achieve excellent microbial control while extending equipment life and reducing operational costs.
