Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a synthetic polymer compound that belongs to the category of acrylamide polymers. It is prepared by polymerization of acrylamide monomers.

Polyacrylamide has various structural and molecular weight derivatives, including linear polyacrylamide, partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide, and polyacrylamide containing cationic groups. These different forms of polyacrylamide are widely used in many fields.

The characteristics and application fields of polyacrylamide are as follows:

High water absorption: Polyacrylamide has a strong water absorption performance, which can absorb a large amount of water or liquid to form hydrogel.

Dispersibility and stability: Polyacrylamide can serve as a dispersant to help disperse suspended solids and maintain the stability of the suspension.

Cell thickener: Polyacrylamide can increase the viscosity and cohesiveness of cell suspensions, and is used in cell culture and biotechnology.

Sedimentation and filtration agent: Polyacrylamide can assist in the sedimentation of suspended solids and the filtration of liquids, commonly used in water treatment, sewage treatment, and industrial processes.

Oil exploitation assistant: Polyacrylamide can be used as viscosity increasing agent, water flooding agent and foam agent during oil exploitation to improve the fluidity of crude oil and water and enhance oil recovery.

Cosmetics and personal care products: Polyacrylamide can be used in cosmetics and personal care products, such as gel, lotion, shampoo, etc., to provide viscosity and moisturizing effect.

It should be noted that the dosage and conditions of polyacrylamide need to be controlled during use, and relevant safety operating procedures should be followed. According to specific application requirements, suitable types and molecular weights of polyacrylamide can be selected to achieve optimal performance and effectiveness.
