The difference between atmp and hedp

Posted on September 26, 2023 By admin No Comments on The difference between atmp and hedp

ATMP (amino trimethylene phosphonic acid) and HEDP (amino dimethylene phosphonic acid) are two commonly used organic phosphate corrosion inhibitors, which are used in some industrial fields to prevent metal corrosion. The following are the main differences between them:

Chemical structure: The chemical structures of ATMP and HEDP are slightly different. ATMP is an amino trimethylene phosphonic acid containing three methyl groups; And HEDP is an amino dimethyl phosphonic acid that contains two methyl groups. This structural difference may affect their properties and performance.

Corrosion inhibition performance: ATMP and HEDP have similar performance in preventing metal corrosion, and both have good corrosion inhibition performance. They can form protective complexes or passivation films, effectively inhibiting metal corrosion reactions and providing long-term protective effects.

PH range: ATMP and HEDP have slightly different tolerance ranges for pH values. ATMP exhibits good stability over a wide pH range and can be used in acidic and alkaline environments; And HEDP is more sensitive to alkaline conditions, and its corrosion inhibition performance is more prominent in acidic environments.

Hard water stability: Hard water refers to water containing high concentrations of calcium and magnesium ions. Compared to HEDP, ATMP has better stability in hard water. ATMP can form stable complexes with calcium and magnesium ions, preventing the deposition and corrosion of metal surfaces by calcium and magnesium.

It is necessary to choose ATMP or HEDP based on specific application scenarios and requirements, taking into account pH value, hard water conditions, and other environmental factors. In addition, the rational use and storage of these chemicals, as well as compliance with relevant safety operations and environmental regulations, are crucial for personal safety and environmental protection.
