High Iron Tolerance for the Most Challenging Scale Inhibition Applications

Posted on October 16, 2026 By admin No Comments on High Iron Tolerance for the Most Challenging Scale Inhibition Applications

AEEA Phosphonate is a specialized amino phosphonate scale inhibitor engineered for water systems where iron contamination would render conventional phosphonates ineffective. Unlike many phosphonates that lose efficacy in the presence of Fe²⁺, AEEA Phosphonate maintains strong scale inhibition performance even at elevated iron concentrations.

In oilfield applications, AEEA Phosphonate effectively inhibits calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate, strontium sulfate, and iron scales across temperatures up to 200°C and pH ranges from 4 to 10. The compound is particularly valuable in squeeze treatments and continuous injection programs where high-iron formation waters would otherwise cause rapid inhibitor precipitation and loss of protection.

Recent patent data demonstrates that combining AEEA Phosphonate with BHMTPA phosphonate produces a synergistic effect — the combination exhibits better performance than either component alone, with significantly improved iron tolerance and lower minimum inhibitor concentration requirements.

Shandong Kairui Chemistry Co., Ltd. manufactures AEEA Phosphonate as part of its extensive phosphonate product line. The company’s five specialized workshops and 280,000-ton annual capacity support reliable supply to oilfield service companies, cooling water treatment formulators, and boiler water treatment programs worldwide.
