Explanation of Commonly Used Chemicals in Sewage Treatment

Posted on July 3, 2023 By admin No Comments on Explanation of Commonly Used Chemicals in Sewage Treatment

There are several commonly used reagents in sewage treatment:

Coagulant: Coagulant is used for primary treatment in sewage treatment, mainly by neutralizing charges, adsorbing colloidal particles, and other methods to condense suspended solids into larger clusters, facilitating subsequent sedimentation, filtration, or flotation. Common coagulants include Iron(III) chloride, Aluminium chlorohydrate (PAC), etc.

Coagulant: Coagulant is an agent used to increase the settling speed of suspended solids and improve the settling effect. They can combine with suspended particles to form larger precipitates, accelerating the sedimentation process. Common coagulants include Aluminium sulfate, polyacrylamide (PAM), etc.

Disinfectant: Disinfectants are used to kill pathogenic microorganisms in sewage, ensuring the hygiene and safety of the effluent. Common disinfectants include chlorine, Sodium hypochlorite, etc. When using disinfectants, attention should be paid to dose control and residue removal to avoid adverse effects on the environment and human health.

Regulators: Regulators are used to adjust the acidity and alkalinity (pH) of wastewater to make subsequent treatment processes more effective. Generally, alkaline substances such as lime and sodium hydroxide are used to increase the alkalinity of sewage, and acidic substances such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid are used to reduce the alkalinity of sewage.

Deodorant: Deodorant is used to remove the foul odor in sewage and improve environmental odor. Common deodorants include activated carbon, bleaching powder, etc.

It should be noted that the selection and use of sewage treatment agents should be based on the actual situation, following relevant regulations and standards. At the same time, the correct dosage and method of adding chemicals are also important to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the sewage treatment process. When using chemicals, relevant operating procedures should be followed, and waste chemicals and wastewater should be properly treated to ensure environmental protection and human safety.
