Basic principle of flocculant

Posted on August 4, 2023 By admin No Comments on Basic principle of flocculant

Fundamental is a chemical for water treatment and wastewater treatment. Its role is to gather tiny particles suspended in water into large blocks, which prompts it to settle or float, thereby achieving the clarification and purification of the water body. The basic principles of flocculants include the following aspects:

Strengthening the condensation between particles: The flocculant interacts with the tiny particles in water through the method of neutralization, adsorption or chemical reaction of charge, weakens its surface charge, enhances the attractiveness between particles, and promotes the aggregation of particles.

Formation of flocculant: The addition of flocculant can make tiny particles gather to form a floccule or colloidal material, forming a relatively large flocculant. These flocculants can wrap or absorb other small particles to increase their size and weight.

Promoting sedimentation or floating: Due to the effect of flocculant, the large groups formed have greater density or buoyancy, which can sink or float in the water body. In this way, the particles are no longer suspended in the water, but they gather together and form a structure that can settle or rise.

Convenient for follow -up treatment: Through the role of flocculant, the massive particles can be easier to be separated, filtered, precipitated or floating. This can facilitate subsequent processing steps, such as the processing of sludge or flotation.

It should be noted that different types of flocculants are suitable for different water quality and processing needs. In practical applications, choose the appropriate type of flocculant and increase the amount according to the specific situation, and follow the relevant operating guidelines and safety requirements.
