The Industry Standard Chelating Agent for Demanding Aqueous Systems

Posted on October 16, 2026 By admin No Comments on The Industry Standard Chelating Agent for Demanding Aqueous Systems

EDTA Na4 remains the strongest, most versatile chelant for controlling metal ions across a broad pH range in aqueous systems. Completely miscible with water and stable even in superheated water, EDTA Na4 does not decompose under the extreme conditions found in boiler systems and high-temperature industrial processes.

Its primary strength lies in hardness control. EDTA Na4 complexes calcium at a 1:1 molar ratio with peak efficiency at pH ≥ 8, making it an effective water softener for detergent formulations, industrial cleaning, and textile processing. In membrane filtration systems, Na4-EDTA-based cleaning achieves permeability recovery of up to 90–94% in a single chemical cleaning cycle, restoring membrane performance where other cleaning agents fall short.

EDTA Na4 also plays a critical role in silica scale prevention. In geothermal and high-iron water systems, EDTA·4Na complexes with Fe(III) and inhibits its acceleration of silicic acid polymerization — effectively preventing silica scale formation that would otherwise foul heat exchangers and injection wells.

Shandong Kairui Chemistry Co., Ltd. provides high-purity Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid Tetrasodium Salt (CAS 64-02-8) alongside its full range of chelating agents. The company’s 280,000-ton annual capacity ensures stable supply for water treatment, cleaning, textile, and paper-making customers across global markets.
