DTPMPA – The Next‑Generation Chelating Agent for Tough Water Conditions

Posted on September 2, 2026 By admin No Comments on DTPMPA – The Next‑Generation Chelating Agent for Tough Water Conditions

In the demanding world of industrial water treatment, conventional inhibitors often reach their limits when confronted with high‑alkalinity, high‑temperature, and high‑hardness conditions. DTPMPA (Diethylene Triamine Penta (Methylene Phosphonic Acid), CAS 15827-60-8) was developed to overcome these barriers. With its unique molecular structure containing five phosphonic acid groups, DTPMPA delivers exceptional chelation capacity and scale inhibition performance that sets a new industry benchmark.

Superior Chelation – The Five‑Phosphonic Advantage. DTPMPA’s five (HO)₂OP‑ groups provide an extraordinary density of metal‑binding sites. This enables it to form stable water‑soluble complexes with free calcium, magnesium, iron, and other metal ions in water, effectively reducing the concentration of scale‑forming ions and delaying precipitation. The calcium chelating value reaches an impressive ≥500 mg/g—significantly higher than many competing products.

Unmatched Performance in Alkaline and High‑Temperature Environments. DTPMPA is non‑toxic and readily soluble in acidic solutions. It effectively inhibits the formation of carbonate, sulfate, and barium sulfate scales. What truly distinguishes DTPMPA is its performance under extreme conditions: at temperatures above 210°C and in alkaline environments (pH 10–11), its scale and corrosion inhibition performance is 2–3 times greater than that of ATMP and HEDP. In alkaline circulating cooling water systems, DTPMPA serves as an effective scale and corrosion inhibitor without the need for pH adjustment.

Exceptional Barium Sulfate Scale Control. Barium sulfate (BaSO₄) scale is notoriously difficult to control—it is tenacious, chemically resistant, and nearly impossible to remove once formed. DTPMPA stands out as an excellent BaSO₄ scale inhibitor, making it particularly valuable for oilfield water injection systems and geothermal applications where barium‑rich waters are common.

Quality You Can Rely On. Shandong Kairui Chemistry Co., Ltd. produces DTPMPA in strict compliance with HG/T 3777-2005, with an active component content ≥50.0%, density 1.35–1.45 g/cm³, and pH (1% solution) ≤2.0. Available in 25kg or 250kg plastic drums with a twelve‑month shelf life. Recommended dosage as a scale inhibitor is 1–30 mg/L.

When your water conditions are tough, choose the inhibitor that’s tougher—choose DTPMPA from Shandong Kairui Chemistry.
