Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid (ATMP), also known as Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid, is an important organic phosphonic acid compound. Its molecular structure contains three methylphosphonic acid groups. These groups give ATMP a strong chelating ability, which can effectively form stable complexes with a variety of metal ions, such as calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, etc., and prevent these ions from forming hard-to-remove precipitates or scaling layers in the water system.

ATMP is available in solid and liquid forms in appearance. Solid ATMP is crystalline powder, easily soluble in water and easily absorb moisture, easy to transport and use; its liquid form is colorless or light yellow transparent liquid. Whether solid or liquid, ATMP shows good chemical stability in water and is not easily hydrolyzed.

ATMP is widely used in many fields due to its excellent scale inhibition and corrosion inhibition properties. As a scale inhibitor, it can effectively prevent scale formation of scale-forming salts in water, especially the formation of calcium carbonate scale, which makes it effective in circulating cooling water system, boiler water treatment, oil field water treatment and so on. At the same time, in high concentration, ATMP can also show good corrosion inhibition to help protect metal surfaces from corrosion.

In addition, ATMP also plays an important role in the textile printing and dyeing industry as a metal ion chelating agent, preventing the color change of dyes due to the combination with metal ions. It can also be used in metal cleaning, plating pretreatment and other metal surface treatment areas to help remove impurities from the surface and prepare for subsequent processes.
