The difference between precipitation and flocculant

Posted on July 15, 2023 By admin No Comments on The difference between precipitation and flocculant

The precipitant and flocculant are used for chemical agents during water treatment, which are used to remove suspended particulate matter and turbid substances. Their mechanisms and methods of use are slightly different.

1. Mechanism:

-Setal: The precipitant reacts the chemical reaction with the suspended particulate matter, forming a large sediment, so that the suspended objects are precipitated. Common seditians are iron salt, aluminum salt, etc.

-Sicker: The flocculant is adsorbed and aggregated by changing the charging properties on the surface of the suspended turbid object, which causes a large flocculable to facilitate its precipitation. Common flocculants are organic polymer such as polymer aluminum chloride.

2. How to use:

-Setal: The precipitant is generally added during the water treatment process. After the precipitation is formed, the sediment is separated through the sedimentation tank or filter.

-Sicker: The flocculant is generally added during the water treatment process. After reacting with the suspension, the flocculator is formed by stirring or stirring, and then the flocculator is separated by the sedimentation tank or filter.

3. Scope of application:

-Setal: The precipitant is effective for large suspended particles, and is suitable for treatment of more obvious turbid water.

-Flocculant: The flocculant is effective for smaller suspension particles, suitable for treatment of fine suspension and colloid particles.

In short, the sedimentary agent forms a large particle sediment through chemical reactions, and flocculants form flocculants by changing the charged properties. The applications in their water treatment need to choose the appropriate pharmaceutical agent according to the nature and processing requirements of the suspension.
