Suggestions and Outlook for the Development of China’s Fine Chemical Industry

Posted on December 22, 2025 By admin No Comments on Suggestions and Outlook for the Development of China’s Fine Chemical Industry

Strengthen scientific and technological innovation to achieve breakthroughs in key core technologies

Governments, enterprises, universities, and research institutions should join forces to build an integrated innovation system that deeply integrates industry, academia, research, and application. On one hand, continuously increase investment in basic research, focusing on core scientific issues such as molecular design, catalytic mechanisms, and process intensification to solidify theoretical foundations. On the other hand, efforts should be made to promote the development of applied technologies, establish application innovation centers and pilot-scale platforms, and accelerate the industrialization of scientific research achievements.

Promoting Green Transformation to Enhance Sustainable Development Capabilities

First, accelerate process route upgrades by promoting environmentally friendly technologies such as green catalysts, green solvents, and biosynthesis to reduce pollutant generation at the source. Second, strengthen end-of-pipe treatment by adopting advanced environmental technologies and equipment to improve resource utilization rates for waste water, waste gas, and solid waste. Third, actively develop a circular economy by building a full-chain industrial system encompassing “production-consumption-regeneration” to explore new sustainable development models for the fine chemicals industry.

Deepening Open Cooperation and Integrating into Global Innovation Networks

Against the backdrop of reshaped global trade dynamics, China’s fine chemical enterprises urgently need to accelerate their global expansion. For instance:
– Establish regionalized production networks by investing in overseas factories or pursuing mergers and acquisitions to gain proximity to target markets and circumvent trade barriers;
– Advance technology localization to adapt to varying market standards and regulatory requirements; and diversify markets by consolidating traditional markets while actively expanding into emerging markets such as those along the Belt and Road Initiative.

Looking ahead, technological innovation will become the core driver of the fine chemicals industry’s development. Cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence will deeply integrate, driving transformations in R&D models and production methods. Green and low-carbon approaches will become the fundamental direction for industrial upgrading. Against the backdrop of carbon neutrality, green technologies such as biomaterials and chemical recycling of waste plastics will experience rapid development, propelling the industry toward a circular economy model. Global collaboration will emerge as a vital pathway for optimizing industrial chains. Despite challenges from trade protectionism, the globalized nature of the fine chemicals industry remains unchanged. Future development will optimize resource allocation and deepen international cooperation within a more diverse and open landscape. In summary, China’s fine chemicals enterprises will assume increasingly significant roles in the global market, evolving from technology followers to innovation leaders.
