How to use pigment dispersants

Posted on August 21, 2023 By admin No Comments on How to use pigment dispersants

Pigment dispersant is a chemical used to evenly disperse pigments in solvents or media. The following are the basic steps for using pigment dispersants:

Preparation: Ensure that the work area is well ventilated and wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and goggles.

Pigment selection: Choose the type of pigment that suits your needs, and prepare the required pigments and solvents. Remember, different pigments may require different types of dispersants.

Mixing ratio: Prepare the correct mixing ratio based on the recommended ratio of pigments and dispersants. This can be found in the product description or technical documentation of pigments and dispersants.

Stirring: Pour the pigment and dispersant into a clean, dry container and stir using a stirring rod or other suitable tool. Ensure thorough mixing to ensure uniform dispersion of pigments.

Dispersion process: According to the guidance of the dispersant, gradually add solvent or medium. Meanwhile, continue stirring the mixture to ensure that the pigment is fully dispersed and free from lumps.

Adjust concentration and viscosity: Adjust the concentration and viscosity of the pigment dispersion according to the medium used as needed. Solvent or medium can be gradually added until the desired concentration and viscosity are achieved.

Filtering: Use a filter or other filtering device to filter the pigment dispersion to remove possible solid particles or impurities.

Please note that when using pigment dispersants, it is important to carefully read and follow the product instructions and safety instructions. Different pigments and dispersants may have specific usage requirements and precautions. If necessary, it is best to consult with suppliers or professionals for advice to ensure proper use and handling.
