Replace Hydrazine in Your Boiler System — Safer for Operators, Better for Your Boilers

Posted on October 16, 2026 By admin No Comments on Replace Hydrazine in Your Boiler System — Safer for Operators, Better for Your Boilers

Carbohydrazide is the proven, safer alternative to hydrazine for dissolved oxygen removal in boiler feedwater systems. In thermal power plants, hydrazine has long been the go-to oxygen scavenger, but its classification as a suspected carcinogen has driven a global shift toward safer chemistries. Carbohydrazide delivers equivalent oxygen scavenging performance with none of the carcinogen concerns.

Carbohydrazide outperforms hydrazine on a per-dose basis — field data shows that oxygen removal levels achieved with a given concentration of hydrazine can generally be accomplished with half as much carbohydrazide. It also passivates iron and copper surfaces, forming a protective magnetite layer that minimizes corrosion across mixed-metallurgy boiler systems. Its decomposition products are not a serious threat to circuit materials, and it handles more safely than hydrazine during storage and dosing.

Shandong Kairui Chemistry Co., Ltd. supplies high-purity Carbohydrazide (CAS 497-18-7) from its ISO-certified manufacturing base in Shandong, China. Backed by a 280,000-ton annual production capacity, Kairui serves power plants, refineries, and industrial boiler operators worldwide.
