Instructions for the use of reverse osmosis scale inhibitors

Posted on July 24, 2023 By admin No Comments on Instructions for the use of reverse osmosis scale inhibitors

Reverse osmosis scale inhibitors are chemical additives used in reverse osmosis (RO) systems to prevent and remove scale deposits on the surface of RO membranes. The following are general instructions for using reverse osmosis scale inhibitors:

Choose a suitable reverse osmosis scale inhibitor: Based on the specific water quality situation and the requirements of the RO system, choose a suitable reverse osmosis scale inhibitor. Different types of scale inhibitors may be required for different water quality, such as phosphate scale inhibitors for calcium alkaline water, and silicate scale inhibitors for silicate water. It is recommended to consult professionals or manufacturers for accurate product selection and usage recommendations.

Mix according to the manufacturer’s instructions: Accurately prepare an appropriate amount of scale inhibitor solution according to the instructions for using the selected reverse osmosis scale inhibitor. Usually, reverse osmosis scale inhibitors are provided in the form of concentrated solution or powder, and need to be dissolved in an appropriate solvent, such as water, according to the specified ratio.

Inject scale inhibitor solution: Inject the prepared scale inhibitor solution into the RO system through an appropriate device. The specific injection method can be determined based on system design and operational requirements, such as injection through chemical additive pumps or proportional pumps.

Running liquid circulation: Start the RO system to mix the scale inhibitor solution with water and circulate through the system. Ensure that the scale inhibitor is fully and evenly dispersed throughout the entire RO system to achieve the effect of preventing and removing dirt.

Observation and adjustment: Regularly observe the operation of the RO system, including monitoring the fouling on the membrane surface and changes in water quality. Depending on the actual situation, it may be necessary to adjust the dosage or frequency of scale inhibitors to maintain the optimal performance of the RO system.

It should be noted that the specific usage method and dosage should be operated according to the product instructions of the reverse osmosis scale inhibitor, and in accordance with safety operating procedures. During use, the operating status of the RO system should also be regularly checked, and the system should be maintained and cleaned in a timely manner to ensure its normal operation and extend its service life.
